ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our venture studio to support the studio and our portfolio companies.The role is based in Lagos supporting both locations.

As the Chief Financial Officer, you'll be responsible for operational finance management, legal compliance, corporate finance, and strategic planning. This role involves overseeing finances, ensuring legal compliance, engaging with investors, and leading strategic planning to drive the studio's success.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a strategic Chief Financial Officer to guide our venture studio and portfolio companies through high impact capital raising, strategic planning, and investor relations. Based in Lagos, this role will oversee our financial strategy, lead capital initiatives, support portfolio companies, and drive financial decision making across Nigeria and Kenya.

Key Responsibilities

As Delta 40 is growing, this role will adapt with our needs. Initial responsibilities include:

• Strategic Finance and Capital Raising

• • • Develop and manage financial strategies and models that position Delta 40 for success in venture building and capital raising.
    • Support capital raising efforts (equity, debt, and grants), aligning with Delta40’s growth targets and impact goals.
    • Build relationships with investors, communicating Delta40’s financial models, portfolio strategy, and investment progress.
    • Oversee and optimize Delta40’s fundraising strategy, collaborating closely with the Managing Partner and senior team.
    • Maintain and update investor financial models, data rooms, and projections based on real-time learnings and evolving market conditions.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive finance strategy for Delta40, including the studio’s financial models, fund model, and annual budgets.
    • Lead a high-performing finance team to support Delta40’s vision, ensuring world-class studio and fund operations, financial controls, and best practices.
    • Co-lead the annual strategic planning process, supporting the executive team with OKR development and financial analysis.
    • Produce financial and fundraising materials for Delta40 Board of Directors meetings and key stakeholders.

• Financial Leadership and Venture Support

• • • Provide strategic financial advice and mentorship to Delta40 portfolio companies, helping them with capital strategy, financial modeling, and growth planning.
    • Serve as a fractional CFO for Delta40 portfolio companies, supporting them in deal structuring, capital planning, investor engagement, and overall financial readiness.
    • Act as a key advisor in portfolio ventures’ capital raising and financial strategy, driving robust financial operations and investor readiness.

• Operational Finance and Compliance

• • Oversee Delta40’s operational finance, legal compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel across the US, Nigeria, and Kenya on financial and regulatory requirements, ensuring smooth and timely compliance.
  • Manage Delta40’s spending, capital allocation, and budgeting processes, sharing insights with leadership to inform strategic investments.
  • Provide input on the financial due diligence of portfolio companies and play a role in their strategic financial decision-making.
  • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, while maintaining strong internal controls.

Required Experience

• 15+ years in senior finance roles, with significant experience in strategic financial management, capital raising, and venture financing.
• Proven expertise in financial modeling and capital strategy to assess investment opportunities.
• Investor relations and strong communication skills to engage with investors on financial and strategic performance.
• Due diligence and deal structuring experience, with a deep understanding of investment terms and negotiation.

Desired Qualifications

1. CPA/ACCA or other relevant qualification is a plus
2. Experience working within start ups at a CFO level
3. Experience in agriculture and clean energy in Sub-Saharan Africa
