Position Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Legal Research and Drafting:
ü Assist in conducting legal research and analysis related to cases in various courts/tribunals.
ü Draft pleadings, affidavits, and other legal documents as required.
ü Prepare legal arguments and strategies for litigation.
ü File suits and other legal documents in various courts/tribunals especially Small Claims Court.
ü Attend mentions, pre-trial conferences, and hearings as required.
ü Represent d.light's interests professionally in court proceedings.
Case Management:
ü Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and trackers.
ü Monitor deadlines and ensure timely compliance with court procedures.
ü Assist in the execution of judgments and enforcement of court orders.
Communication and Collaboration:
ü Liaise with different departments within d.light to gather evidence and relevant information for legal proceedings.
ü Prepare witnesses for testimony and coordinate their appearances in court.
ü Keep the Head of Legal abreast of all legal matters and provide regular updates on case progress.
General Legal Assistance:
ü Provide ongoing legal support to the Company on a broad range of operational and corporate matters.
ü Advise on legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements affecting the Company’s operations.
ü Monitor and interpret applicable laws, regulations, and policies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
ü Handle ad-hoc legal issues and provide timely risk-based guidance to internal stakeholders which may arise from time to time.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law from a recognized institution. Additional legal certifications or courses are a plus.
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in good standing.
- 1-2 Years Post Qualification Experience.
- Hold a current Practicing Certificate (2026).
- Familiarity with the legal procedures and practices in the Small Claims Court (SCC).
- Prior internship or work experience in a legal environment is advantageous.
