POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Matatiele, Eastern Cape

Conservation South Africa (CSA) currently has a vacancy for a Data and Systems Administrator who will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, completeness, and accessibility of data associated with the Social Employment Fund (SEF) Programme. The SEF Programme forms part of CSA’s Jobs for Nature Initiative, which aims to create meaningful employment opportunities for young people in South Africa, while providing training and mentorship aligned with the green economy.

This is a full‑time, fixed‑term position offering the opportunity to work with a committed and innovative team in a dynamic and challenging environment. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in administration, a high level of attention to detail, and a demonstrated willingness to build their skills and knowledge in support of the mission and objectives of both the SEF Programme and Conservation South Africa.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all data captured on the Kwantu system is accurate, complete, current, and easily accessible.
  • Verify data entries, identify discrepancies, and correct errors to maintain high data- quality standards.
  • Conduct routing system and data quality checks, resolving inconsistencies or issues in a timely manner.
  • Track and monitor data-entry progress and provide regular feedback to SEF Programme Officers as required.
  • Coordinate and manage the sharing of data with internal and external stakeholders, in line with project requirements and data-governance protocols.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records of data-entry processes for audit, reporting, and referencing purposes.
  • Proactively flag and escalate data-related risks such as inaccuracies, missing information, or missed data-captured deadlines to the Programme Officer.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor in support of the SEF Programme.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Typical office environment in a rural landscape.
  • Travel to landscape program delivery sites may be required.
  • This role will be a fixed-term assignment, anticipated to begin on 23 February 2026 and end 30 July 2026.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • South African Matric certificate.
  • Up to 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Good knowledge of Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project Administration.
  • Passion for and experience in working with people in rural environments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data input, capturing, collection, and processing.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Solid interpersonal skills.
  • Organised.

Preferred

  • Data capturing, data collection, and processing certification or equivalent certification.
  • NQF level 5
  • Good knowledge of the Kwantu system.
