The “Ecosystem-Based Adaptation and Mitigation in Botswana’s Communal Rangelands” Project funded by GCF aims to utilize collective management of livestock and ecosystems to restore Botswana’s communal rangelands, increasing the climate resilience of vulnerable populations and reducing GHG emissions. Over 8 years, the project will undertake activities in 104 villages in Ngamiland, Kgalagadi, and Bobirwa landscape areas covering six administrative districts of Botswana. In these three areas, the Project is targeting improved management of 4.6 million hectares of rangelands
POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Gaborone, Botswana
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Coordinator will support centralized procurement of services, equipment, maintenance & inventory across all project components and ensure compliance with procurement procedures. They will support the Procurement Manger with planning, organizing, and coordinating overall procurement functions at the main office and regional offices. They oversee the support operations of the landscape offices and ensure that there is effective information flow, and that resources are deployed efficiently throughout the business. The incumbent will implement procurement management strategies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plays a supporting role in procurement planning, including preparation, execution, and monitoring of all goods and services in line with the project and landscape office workplan needs.
- Advises staff regarding purchase requests, processes, and procedures, and coordinates purchases with IT.
- Supports all logistical activities, including the transportation and storage of assets, ensuring timely delivery to project sites.
- Ensure that all goods and services are procured in a timely manner and delivered to the recipient(s) on time in accordance with CI’s Procurement Policies.
- Supervise bids and purchase orders for approval.
- Maintain productive relationships with existing vendors, resolve order and delivery issues, and maintain access to vendor portals. Maintain a vendor scorecard and identify and recommend.
- Ensure vendor invoices are submitted for payment processing.
- Keeps and maintains proper procurement records.
- Prepares all materials/documents for project reporting and auditing requirements as may be required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Normal office environment.
- Flexibility to occasionally work outside of normal work hours.
- Travel to field locations across project areas when expected.

- Supporting the staff in the implementation of other activities outside of its main responsibilities if needed.
- This role will be a 3-year fixed-term assignment
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 2 to 4 years of proven experience in procurement or related work experience, preferably in an international development or large-scale project environment.
- Skilled in using purchasing and asset management systems or applications.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical users across a multi-lingual, multi-cultural organization.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Adaptability
- Experience in managing the logistics of projects operating in remote or under-resourced environments.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Team player and able to work effectively with diverse works groups in a multicultural environment.

Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, set priorities, and deliver quality results.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in asset management or logistics (e.g. CIPS).
- Experience working in environmental conservation, restoration, or similar sectors.
