The “Ecosystem-Based Adaptation and Mitigation in Botswana’s Communal Rangelands” Project funded by GCF aims to utilize collective management of livestock and ecosystems to restore Botswana’s communal rangelands, increasing the climate resilience of vulnerable populations and reducing GHG emissions. Over 8 years, the project will undertake activities in 104 villages in Ngamiland, Kgalagadi, and Bobirwa landscape areas, covering six administrative districts of Botswana. In these three areas, the Project is targeting improved management of 4.6 million hectares of rangelands.
POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Gaborone, Botswana
Reporting to the Senior Finance Coordinator, the Finance Coordinator is responsible for processing financial transactions and assuring controls while ensuring compliance with CI’s financial and donor reporting policies and requirements. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing various financial reports, and providing support for logistical tasks related to both field activities and office operations under the direction of the Senior Finance Coordinator.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examine invoices, cash advance reports, and travel expenses reports to ensure compliance with set procedures and policies.
- Monitor monthly schedules for payments and financial commitments. Track activity and travel advances to ensure timely liquidation.
- Maintain and regularly update monthly account monitoring in Business World, and identifying any discrepancies.
- Processing all transactions in Business World to ensure all transactions are recorded (invoices, payments, petty cash, general ledger).
- Assist with the monthly/yearly closing activities and contribute in internal/external audit activities, and provide information as requested.
- Support fuel card monitoring in collaboration with the Procurement Manager.
- Coordinate office fleet management to ensure effective field operations, including fuel consumption tracking.
- Assist in inventory preparation, reconciling assets between Business World and physical stock, prepare asset disposal documentation for non-functional equipment, and updating system records.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Normal office environment.
- Flexibility to occasionally work outside of normal work hours.
- Travel to field locations across project areas when expected.
- Ability to travel in the remote areas and in remote communities.
- Ability to work with local partners.

- Supporting the staff in the implementation of other activities outside of its main responsibilities, if needed.
- This role will be a 3-year fixed-term assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 2 to 4 years of accounting or related work experience. Fund accounting experience preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting principles, processes, and standards.
- Experience with accounting processes, principles, and standards.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail, highly organized, ability to prioritize and multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude, service focus, and work independently and as part of a diverse team.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Team player and able to work effectively with diverse work groups in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities, and deliver quality results.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience working in an international non-profit organization would be an added advantage.
