The goal is to minimize idle time, eliminate bottlenecks, and maintain smooth workflow while meeting production cycle time and demand.
They ensure that each workstation has roughly equal task time so that the entire line operates at maximum efficiency.
.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Line Balancing
- Analyze tasks required for product assembly.
- Distribute tasks across workstations so that each station's workload aligns with the production cycle time.
- Continuously adjust task allocation as production conditions change.
- Workflow Optimization
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the production line.
- Reduce idle time and unnecessary waiting between stations.
- Improve overall line efficiency and throughput.
- Production Monitoring
- Track performance metrics such as:
- Cycle time
- Takt time
- Workstation utilization
- Throughput rate
- Ensure the line consistently meets production demand targets.
- Process Improvement
- Conduct time studies and motion studies.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce waste.
- Implement improvements such as workstation redesign, task reallocation, or automation.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
