Role Brief:
As a Junior Product Manager, you will work closely with a squad of software developers under the guidance of the Lead Product Manager. You will be responsible for a specific part of the platform, such as Portfolio, Operations, Integrations, Commerce, or Data. Your primary tasks include managing the backlog of tickets in JIRA, gathering requirements from stakeholders, and prioritizing tasks based on feedback. Additionally, you will contribute to designing new features, maintaining the vision and mission for your squad, and engaging with stakeholders to communicate product developments.
What you can expect to be doing:
Vision
-Assist in defining the mission for your team and communicate it effectively to stakeholders.
-Contribute to periodic deliverables and estimations for projects.
Backlog
-Consistently create and track tickets in JIRA for all pieces of work requiring more than very small effort.
-Maintain clear naming, labeling/tagging of tickets in the backlog and assignment to people so that all reasonable data is mastered there.
-Maintain links between different tickets for relationships and use these to ensure things happen in a timely right order.
-Maintain a good set of epics so all tickets are categorized and distributed in a useful way that makes sense to the team.
-Maintain around 3 sprints worth of provisional stories so others can know what plans are from looking at backlog.
Stakeholder Management
-Cultivate relationships with power users and maintain regular communication.
-Assist in establishing processes for receiving and managing stakeholder requests.
-Gather and act upon feedback on product training and documentation.
Design
-Use process diagrams, tables, and other visual tools effectively to convey requirements.
-Draft wireframe designs in a tool that can be used by front-end developers.
-Lead design sessions with wireframes and squad and assimilate feedback.
-Contribute to real-world process design to simplify implementation.
Agile
-Model agile principles in constantly refining priorities of tickets based on the input you get from different stakeholders.
-Constantly ensure squad members are working on the most important thing.
-Agree with the squad what can and cannot be taken into a sprint given the priorities and maintain communication with stakeholders on this.
-Able to stand in for the scrum master on leading all agile ceremonies.
Story Writing
-Write user stories with testable acceptance criteria.
-Contribute to backlog refinement sessions and document knowledge for the team.
Technical
-Utilize developer tools like SQL or GitHub for troubleshooting.
-Assist in implementing KPIs to track product performance.
-Understand the technical debt situation of your product and proactively work to ensure it is kept in an okay state through remedial tickets.
-Develop a deep understanding of the product and all the different logic pathways.
What we are looking for:
- Ideally, at least 1 year of experience working within software development teams or relevant internships.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to adapt to remote work environments.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and human-centered design principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Attention to detail, especially under pressure.
- A degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
