About The Role
The Business Development Manager will develop, plan and execute the sales initiatives towards the strategic accounts related to watermelon and melon crops. Building long-term relationships with ANZ customers in line with the M&S strategy and within BASF Vegetable Seeds to realize profitability and partnership. You will also have a portfolio focus of the following:
- Pricing and profitability for the crop
- Managing the long-term pipeline for the crop
- Ensuring success of this crop through customer account plans
How You Will Do It
- Plan, review, adapt and execute the annual sales plan for the selected key accounts. Customer plans, sales targets, key performance indicators, and crop marketing plan to contribute to crop annual budget
- Represent the company and introduce value-based proposals according to the needs of the key customers while building long-term partnerships and generating sustainable sales. Manage connections customers have with retailers in the region
- Provide market, price, product, grower, and consumer insight to contribute to the formulation of the vision and strategy plans for the crop
- Collaborate and network amongst several crop teams to understand crop strategy and implement marketing plans and business plans
- Collaborate with internal (global) stakeholders to evaluate and promote varietal performance and new introductions.
- Execute go to market strategies and policies to the coming years in the scope of commercial excellence in the region for the watermelon and melon crops.
What We Look For
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree with 5-8 years of experience in Sales, Marketing and/or Project Management
- Well-rounded knowledge of the vegetable seed business
- Advanced consultative selling skills, including negotiation and closing
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to influence stakeholders across diverse backgrounds and functions
- Strong agronomic knowledge and project management skills
- Strong English communication skills are required
- Excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and strong organizational abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple competing priorities effectively
- Marketing and product management skills to position and price varieties effectively within the marketplace
- Ability to collaborate with global colleagues on portfolio strategy and development
