WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

We are looking for a Graduate Trainee to support the Technical Sales team within the Performance Materials (PM) business unit. The role focuses on building market intelligence, supporting customer and business development initiatives, and identifying new sales opportunities across Sub‑Saharan Africa while gaining strong technical and commercial exposure.

Duties will include the following:

  • Support the Technical Sales team through market research, customer insights, and business development initiatives across Sub‑Saharan Africa
  • Develop market intelligence by collecting and analysing customer, industry, and competitor data using digital tools
  • Assist in identifying and developing new sales and growth opportunities within the Performance Materials portfolio
  • Contribute to customer business development concepts and value‑adding solution proposals
  • Track, coordinate, and report on projects, ensuring clear timelines, deliverables, and status updates
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports, including customer visit, industry, and production trial reports
  • Continuously build technical, product, application, and industry knowledge through on‑the‑job learning
  • Support entrepreneurial initiatives that strengthen BASF’s brand presence within the region

WHAT YOU OFFER

  • Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Polymers, or a related field
  • 1–3 years’ relevant experience
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Customer‑focused with an interest in sales, business development, and negotiation
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team
