WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
We are seeking a professional like you to perform DevOps Engineering on a cloud-based application developed by the in-house development team. The end solutions drive customer satisfaction, promote the BASF application ecosystem, and generate revenue for BASF. While other projects may be diverse and forthcoming, the current products are designed to allow body shops, partners, and distributors in dozens of countries and speaking dozens of languages, a system to search for formulas, match paint finishes to products, mix solutions to paint vehicles, and manage paint operations. This involves high-tech IoT devices such as Spectrophotometers, Digitally Connected Scales, and Label Printers. The DevOps Engineer's job will be to design, implement, and manage automated deployment pipelines, ensuring the continuous integration and delivery of high-quality software while collaborating closely with development and operations teams to enhance system performance, reliability, and scalability in alignment with business objectives.
This core solution is a key part of the digital strategy within BASF Automotive Refinish Coatings and will continue to evolve and improve with future advancements. This solution is globally used, and thus, requires a “global mindset and approach” throughout the DevOps process.
As a DevOps Engineer you create chemistry by:
- Your strong knowledge of infrastructure components in the context of global web applications will serve you well as you develop well-defined deployment strategies, outline infrastructure automation, and ensure comprehensive coverage of operational requirements within the organization’s digital landscape.
- Participating in code reviews and providing feedback on infrastructure as code (IaC) practices and implementation to ensure quality and efficiency in deployment processes.
- Demonstrating your experience in DevOps practices, along with a solid understanding of modern tools and methodologies, you will collaborate with development and operations teams to analyze workflows, optimize processes, and communicate findings to improve business-critical solutions.
- Designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Microsoft Azure Devops to automate and streamline application deployment and integration processes.
- Relying on your knowledge and experience with cloud platforms, you will be responsible for promoting a culture of continuous integration and the crucial role of automated deployment. Collaborate with development teams following Agile methodologies to understand software requirements and design appropriate deployment strategies.
- Analyzing system performance metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and working closely with developers and operations teams to resolve issues that impact application reliability and performance.
- Maintaining and enhancing existing deployment frameworks, ensuring they remain robust, efficient, and aligned with best practices for infrastructure management.
- Documenting deployment processes, configurations, and methodologies to ensure transparency, traceability, and compliance across the organization.
- Utilizing your ability to understand complex business processes, you will contribute to system requirements and architecture design, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational needs.
- Staying up to date with industry trends and best practices in DevOps methodologies and tools, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation in deployment practices.
WHAT YOU OFFER
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Cloud Engineer or in a similar software engineering role
- Microsoft Azure Cloud Component operations experience, i.e. (Reverse) Proxies, VNETs, Databases, App Services, Container Apps
- Infrastructure Maintenance technology and process experience, i.e. Terraform
- Experience in the area of “Code Scanning”, i.e. SonarQube
- Solid understanding of Azure DevOps and the ability to communicate effectively with developers in order to be able to offer consulting services to those communities
- Above intermediate knowledge of Git, including git mirroring and managing merge conflicts.
- Experience working in Agile teams, demonstrating adaptability and collaboration skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Working as a team player, you must be open to completing other tasks and duties as assigned or that may arise from a complex, dynamic working environment.
Nice to have
- Azure DevOps Solutions Expert Certification
- Understanding of business requirements and the ability to create technical documentation.
- Capability to present and explain work results within the team and to stakeholders.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and PowerShell.
- Experience with agile working methods.
