The BASF Performance Materials division delivers advanced material solutions with a primary focus on engineering plastics, complemented by specialty polymers. These materials support demanding industrial applications across transportation, construction, infrastructure, and electrical & electronics markets where durability, efficiency, and sustainability are critical.
With global production and development capabilities, Performance Materials partners closely with customers and distributors to bring differentiated engineering plastics solutions to market, supported by deep application expertise and technical know‑how.
We are looking for a Distribution Development Manager to join our Performance Materials team, with responsibility for the West Coast distribution territory across the United States and Canada. This position focuses on developing, managing, and optimizing the distribution network for engineering plastics.
Location and Travel
This position is intended to be based on the West Coast and requires approximately 50% travel to support close collaboration with regional distributors, customers, and internal stakeholders across the United States and Canada.
As a Distribution Development Manager, you create chemistry by...
- Serving as the primary interface with the Performance Materials distribution network across the United States and Canada, acting as the central point of contact for West Coast distribution sellers to develop commercial proposals and address competitive and customer challenges.
- Analyzing regional industry trends, identifying growth opportunities, and driving portfolio penetration through distribution partners. Familiarity with specialty polymers will support broader portfolio discussions as needed.
- Providing clear and effective internal and external communication drives alignment, accuracy, and operational efficiency across Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Technical Service, and distribution partners.
- Leading distributor development and performance management with one of our distribution partners, including capability assessment, onboarding, and ongoing optimization in alignment with sales leadership. Regular reporting will include regional financial performance, pricing execution, pipeline development, and market intelligence.
- Coordinating cross‑functional resources to support profitable and sustainable growth with distribution partners across the West Coast.

- Possess a Bachelor's degree
- Strong understanding of engineering plastics market preferred
- Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating in cross-funcitonal teams.
- Understanding of value chain and cost-to serve.
- Are open to travelling 50% of the time.

Pay transparency
BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $130,000 - $180,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
