As an Intellectual Property Database Specialist you will play an integral role for the continued protection and management of BASF's IP assets. The role reports operationally to the Team Lead Anaqua Patents, Trademarks & Contracts and administratively to the Head of Global IP Data Services and US Operations. You will be expected to provide, in a timely and effective manner, the highest-quality IP legal support, working in cooperation with the US and global IP teams and with outside counsel. You will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the IP department global database, driving workflow optimization, data analysis, reporting, and quality assurance, while serving as first-level support for IP process and system-related matters.

As an Intellectual Property Database Specialist, you create chemistry by...

  • Managing and further developing our "electronic Intellectual Property Management System" (eIPMS) for all BASF IP locations worldwide.
  • Conceptualizing, optimizing and developing workflow-driven business processes of the IP department.
  • Conducting data analyses and further developing data models and data pipelines.
  • Preparing monthly and annual reports to illustrate the patent department’s services.
  • Overlooking the quality management of eIPMS in collaboration with the database vendor, translating customer requirements, assessing feasibility, and providing evaluations.
  • Acting as the first point of contact and administrator of the system, you will be responsible for managing and entering property right data in eIPMS and will serve as first-level support regarding eIPMS and process-related questions for all users worldwide.
  • Continually monitoring changes and innovations in the various patent jurisdictions and the integration of digital tools for process development.

If you...

  • Hold a High School Diploma or GED; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Possess 8+ years of experience as a patent paralegal, IP database specialist, and/or legal administrator.
  • Demonstrate expertise with intellectual property docketing systems, preferably Anaqua.
  • Show strong command of MS Office and patent office platforms such as USPTO, WIPO, and EPO.
  • Exhibit excellent communication, analytical, and time management skills, with the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive pay range for this role is $81,000 - $99,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
