We are looking for a Key Account Manager to join our Performance Materials team based in Wyandotte, MI. The position is remote, but applicants must reside in the Midwest.

The Performance Materials division is at the forefront of the much-needed sustainability transformation in plastics. Our experts co-create products with customers to bring innovations to major industry sectors such as transportation, consumer goods, industrial applications, and construction.These solutions contribute to a sustainable future by pushing the boundaries in thermal resistance, robustness and lightweight applications.
In this role, you will serve as the face and voice of BASF to our customers, tasked with farming existing accounts and hunting for new customers. Additionally, you will provide necessary market feedback to inform our strategic business decisions and participate in both internal and external business objectives. This role will require you to collaborate, network, and leverage our entire organization to solve problems, meet customer needs, and drive profitable and sustainable business for BASF.

- Utilizing your education and/or professional background, you will effectively manage customer relationships and build partnerships with key decision-makers and influencers at your accounts.
- Leveraging your ability to negotiate will be a valued asset as you establish service offerings, non-disclosure agreements, contracts, and pricing (including value pricing) that generate maximum value for BASF.
- Managing a balanced approach to farming existing customers and hunting for new ones.
- Representing the voice of the customer with a sense of urgency, you will take ownership of customer interactions and successfully engage with cross-functional team members to solve complex issues.
- Identifying customer needs is essential as you consistently work to track and support the development of business and relationships that accelerate the growth and profitability of your accounts.
- Leveraging your organizational awareness and communication skills, you will collaborate with marketing and technical development personnel to develop and commercialize new products and applications.
- Demonstrating your customer engagement strategy, you will steer the development and execution of regional account plans and contribute to or lead global strategic account plans.
- Sharing customer insights, you will communicate market and customer intelligence to help challenge and refine market strategies and prioritize innovation resources.
- Utilizing your project management skills, you will assist in aligning the organization, your customer contacts, and/or global counterparts to support BASF’s success with your customers.

- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in business or a technical field.
- Have at least 5 years of experience in technical, polyurethane, or sales.
- Own excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Have the ability to negotiate and influence others.

Pay transparency
BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $113,000 - $135,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
