Our Oilfield Services business provides intelligent, connected technologies to monitor and control our energy extraction assets. We provide customers with the peace of mind needed to improve their operations reliably and efficiently.
Work onsite with customers
As a Field Specialist, you will be performing installation/pulling of Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP) and associated equipment in offshore and onshore oil and water wells. May be required to work unsupervised.
As a Field Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Inspecting and assembles all types of ESP submersible equipment supervises and assists the subsequent installation of tubing and banding of cable, periodically checks system electrical integrity during installation.
- Assists with monitoring, trouble shooting and testing downhole ESP equipment in order to maximize well productivity and ESP run life.
- Calculating required surface voltage, designates proper transformer connections and wire size, sets up surface equipment and ensures system safety devices are installed and functioning.
- Inspecting and repairs all types of ESP submersible equipment, diagnoses problems, makes applicable field repairs to equipment, recommends appropriate action to the customer.
- Performing more specialized electrical work including basic repair work on V 7, VSD’s, troubleshooting downhole pressure systems, converting switchboard wiring from one type of controller to another and installing voltage analyzing equipment.
- Performing all levels of maintenance, inspection, checks, testing and troubleshooting on ESP & PCP artificial lift equipment and commissioning equipment
- Acting as primary point of contact and trusted advisor to customers for timely and satisfactory resolution of concerns and providing customer with written reports and completes FIR's on all failed parts that require repair.
- Interfacing across customer’s engineering and management teams to ensure site operations and maintenance activities aligned to technical requirements.
- Conducting business activities in accordance with HSE policies, Legal Compliance requirements and Baker Hughes Core Values.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Have High school diploma or relevant technical qualifications on Artificial Lift equipment.
- Have at least 3 years’ experience handling Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP)
- Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting and fault-finding of Artificial Lift equipment and systems.
- Display a powerful customer service-orientation mind-set, experienced leading customers through tough decisions.
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, to convey technical concepts to customers, both internal and external.
- Enjoy travelling to customer locations, being flexible to customer demands and being available at a short notice.
- Be a motivated self-starter, proactively taking initiative to lead and solve problems with technical and analytical skills.

In this role, you will travel to and work on customer sites across the SSA Region in line with customer requirements. The duration of the work at site and the hours of work at the site will be in line with customer requirements(5 week on , 3 weeks off). In between work assignments, you will have free time in line with Baker Hughes working time guidelines and fatigue management provisions. You will also accrue annual leave, which you can then take to extend your time off.
