Key responsibilities of Windows VMware Core On-prem Sr. Infrastructure Administrator.

  • Managing & Maintaining Windows VMware and Hyper-V core On-Prem infrastructure.
  • Provide support and work on the incident and service requests related to Windows environments.
  • Configuring and optimizing the virtual VMware and Hyper-V infrastructure.
  • Working with Service-Now change and incident management tools to maintain SLAs.
  • Monitoring physical and virtualized server infrastructure and provide advice on capacity requirements.
  • Working with the storage team and system administrators for storage virtualization configuration.
  • Providing support and advice to projects requiring Server infrastructure deployment or upgrade globally.
  • Being able to proactively manage the Windows Server environment to prevent incidents from occurring.
  • Being able to proactively identify inefficiencies in operations to improve the quality of the working environment Requirements:
  • Providing Server administration support which includes 16x7 operations support for (Windows, VMware, Hyper-V) infrastructure across multiple COLO data centers.
  • Being able to provision the Windows Server 2012R2, 2016, 2019, and 2022 OS by following the orchestration deployment for building & hardening Windows servers.
  • Managing & maintaining the Windows roles and services like DNS, DHCP and fileserver, AD.
  • Being responsible for troubleshooting the server hardware-related(Dell & HP) issues by coordinating with H&F engineers.
  • Identifying the issues in the Windows environment proactively and troubleshoot and break-fix issues in Windows.
  • Being able to perform health checks of the Windows environment. Can aslo analyze server logs & provide root cause analysis during Major incidents.
  • Being responsible for applying security patches to Windows servers using WSUS & SCCM tools.
  • Managing & maintaining permissions on File servers & NAS shares(NetApp).

Requirements/Skills Required

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree with minimum 6+ Yrs. of experience in windows-VMware administration for a large enterprise on-prem environment with a 1 yr of L3 background.
  • Have Operating Systems experience – Should have expertise in managing, installing, and administering the Windows Server OS 2016, 2019, and newer.
  • Have Hypervisors experience – Experience in administering and provisioning window- VMs on hypervisors like Hyper-V and VMWare ESXi.
  • Have Virtualization experience – Should have good hands-on experience on tools like Virtual Machine Manager, VCenter, and other VMWare ancillary products.
  • Have Troubleshooting and administration experience – Expertise in solving complex problems related to Windows VMware systems and environment.
  • Have Concepts experience– Should have good hands-on knowledge of administrative tools and technologies like (AD, DNS, DHCP, File services, robocopy, clustering, backup)
  • Have Storage Capacity management experience - Should have a good understanding of storage concepts and protocols like (SAN, NAS, DAS, NFS, FC, iSCSI, FCoE, SMB/CIFS, RAID, NVMe)
  • Have Networking experience – Understanding of network virtualization (SD-WAN, vLAN, P vLAN, SD-branch, and SASE), VPNs.
  • Have Automation and Scripting experience – Windows power shell, and VMware power CLI.
  • Have Security experience – Should know how to secure servers and protect the system from these new threat vectors, such as enforcing security best practices, security protocol, and OS level hardening.
  • Have Monitoring experience – Should be familiar with monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds, SCOM, and Qualys.
  • Have a good understanding and experience configuring, and analyzing systems logs and integrating with log aggregators. (Splunk and sys log collectors)
  • Have Account Access Management – Familiar with account management applications and software such as Active Directory, CyberArk, and Okta.
  • Have Hardware Mgmt –Expertise in building, and configuring hardware servers (Dell, HP, Nvidia) which includes racking, stacking, and network connections with the help of H&F support.
  • Have experience using hardware remote management tools like Dell Open Manage Enterprise, iDRAC, and iLO for different HW models and chassis.
  • Have to work with vendors to resolve operating system and hardware issues when required.
  • Have DMZ/OT Server Deployment & Management – Understand the DMZ/OT network principle and how to manage the environment while still maintaining segregation.

  • Have Soft skills – Teamwork, collaboration, accountability, leadership, listen and communicate with transparency, be able to adapt to change, open to learn new skills.
  • Have Cloud experience – Aware of cloud architecture, the nuances of the major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, and the security issues around storing data on the public cloud.
