As a member of the Technology team, you will report to the Technology Lead and play a pivotal role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large sets of data to inform business decisions. This role involves overseeing data analysis tasks, ensuring the accuracy of data, and generating actionable insights to guide business strategy. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, technology, and other data professionals, to develop solutions that drive performance and improve operational efficiencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Data Analysis & Interpretation

● Lead the analysis of complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.

● Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and other analytical tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs).

● Provide actionable insights to senior management and other departments to support business decisions.

2.Data Strategy & Reporting

● Develop data collection methods and processes to ensure the availability of high-quality, accurate data.

● Prepare and present regular reports on business performance, market trends, and operational metrics.

● Develop ad-hoc reports for specific business needs as requested by stakeholders.

3.Collaboration & Communication

● Work with business leaders to define data needs and deliver analytical insights aligned with business objectives.

● Communicate complex data findings in an easily understandable format to non-technical stakeholders.

● Lead meetings and discussions around data strategy and performance with cross-functional teams.

4.Data Management & Governance

● Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across all platforms.

● Help define data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance and security of sensitive information.

● Provide recommendations on best practices for data management, storage, and reporting.

5.Advanced Analytics & Tool Utilization

● Use advanced statistical techniques and machine learning models to analyze data and predict future trends.

● Leverage analytics tools such as SQL, Python, R, or Tableau to create insights and drive automation.

● Optimize existing data processes and systems for better efficiency and accuracy.

6.Mentorship & Training

● Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance on best practices, analytical techniques, and software tools.

● Conduct training sessions for teams to enhance data literacy and encourage a data-driven culture within the organization.

7.Process Improvement

● Continuously evaluate and improve data processes to increase efficiency and enhance data-driven decision-making.

● Identify opportunities for automation and data integration to streamline workflows.

8.Data Late & Data Warehousing

● Design, implement and maintain ETL or ELT processes to move data between systems at scale, in an efficient and secure manner.

● Design and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and other data storage solutions.

9.Quality Checks

● Develop data quality checks and validation processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.

● Troubleshoot and resolve data issues in a timely manner.

● Create and maintain comprehensive documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.

● 5+ years industry experience in data analysis or a related field, with a proven track record of successfully analyzing complex data and providing insights.

● Significant hands-on experience of data engineering at scale, using big data technologies.

● Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.

● Expert level in Python, SQL & Database management systems and data manipulation tools (e.g., Python, R, Excel).

● Solid understanding of cloud computing and data infrastructure design.

● Experience of processing many data source types and managing common challenges; e.g. structured and unstructured, manual spreadsheets to streaming time-series data etc.

● Experience in developing and implementing data strategies for large-scale projects.

● Fluent in spoken and written English (to advanced/technical level).

● Well organised and attentive to detail.

● Based in Nairobi or able to relocate.

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

● Certification in data engineering, data analytics or a related field.

● Data analytics / data science / machine learning experience.

● Experience with IoT devices and streaming data.

● Experience with GCP or AWS.

● Experience collaborating with global teams.
