We are seeking a highly organised and self-motivated Head of Project Management Office to direct our project portfolio as we continue on our journey.

About ARC Power
Since our founding in 2016, we have connected over 15,000 people across 14 villages to renewable solar energy, providing 24-hour electricity that transforms lives and fuels economic growth. We design, develop, and install both off-grid and grid-tied AC power generation systems (ARCs) and distribution networks, becoming the heart of communities and enabling families and small businesses to thrive. We are just getting started, having signed a ground-breaking contract with the Government of Rwanda and now expanding in Zambia and Mozambique, with a plan to provide energy access to more than 2 million people in the region.

About the Role
The Head of Project Management Office is a strategic leadership position responsible for aligning project execution with ARC Power’s business objectives, ensuring that every project contributes meaningfully to our mission of electrification in sub-Saharan Africa. This role demands a leader who can deliver actionable project outcomes while balancing time, cost, quality, and scope.

As a people-focused leader, the Head of PMO fosters collaboration, trust, and accountability across diverse teams, operating in multiple markets. They will champion best practices in project management, implementing robust governance frameworks and optimising workflows for consistent project delivery.

In an environment marked by supply chain complexities and dynamic regulatory landscapes, adaptability and problem-solving are critical. The Head of PMO navigates challenges, advises and supports the local project managers, foresees and mitigates issues, ensuring that projects remain on track.

The role also requires exceptional communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels, including field teams, executives, customers, and government officials. Strong financial acumen is essential, as the Head of PMO oversees project budgets, forecasts, and value-for-money assessments to maintain financial discipline.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or significant work experience in Engineering, Project Management, Business Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 10 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing complex infrastructure or electrification projects in sub-Saharan Africa.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2).
• Proven experience in managing multicultural, geographically dispersed teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Strong financial acumen and experience managing project budgets.
• Excellent English language skills
• Full valid driving licence
