Senior Data Engineer (Platforms Lead)

Amini is a fast-growing startup building environmental data infrastructure to fix Africa’s data gap and enable the prosperity of 1 billion people by 2030. We provide our deep tech solutions to global private sector companies across a range of sectors. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Scala, Python, Apache Flink, Apache Spark, Cassandra/ScyllaDB, and Apache Kafka. While experience in real-time (RT) processing and geospatial processing is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust data processing pipelines.
• Utilize Scala and Python for advanced data engineering tasks.
• Implement and optimize data processing solutions using Apache Flink and Apache Spark.
• Manage and optimize data storage using Cassandra/ScyllaDB.
• Develop efficient data ingestion and streaming mechanisms using Apache Kafka.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Ensure high performance, security, and scalability of data systems.
• Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in data engineering technologies.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to the team's knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Scala and Python.
• Extensive experience with Apache Flink, Apache Spark, Cassandra/ScyllaDB, and Apache Kafka.
• Familiarity with real-time processing and geospatial data processing is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
