AltGen is looking for a SAICA registered Financial Controller/Manager to join a renewable energy investment group based in Stellenbosch. The successful candidate will support the Finance Team across the Investments and Engineering divisions.

The role requires a clear understanding of accounting across multiple entities to assist, recommend and support the broader Finance Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor that all entities are tax compliant in the various jurisdictions.
• Assist with the full insurance function for the Investments and Engineering group, including annual renewals, claims and adding assets.
• Prepare management accounts for individual companies.
• Prepare dashboards and slides for the monthly Group management accounts.
• Maintain and update the various fixed asset registers.
• Prepare the covenant calculations for the Group.
• Run the full monthly payroll function for the South African and international investment group companies, including EMP201s, EMP501 reconciliations, Workmen’s Compensation returns and other statutory requirements.
• Review month-end journals, including provisions, tax, intercompany transactions, reconciliations and loan accounts.
• Review trial balances for unusual entries or balances.
• Review supplier payments before sending them for bank approval and approve weekly payments on the various banking platforms.
• Prepare audit files for annual audits and assist auditors with the audits for all entities.
• Assist with reviewing annual financial statements received from the auditors.
• Assist with all tax return submissions and tax calculations.
• Assist the CFO and Financial Manager with the annual budget process.
• Drive system improvements and automation.
• Assist with the B-BBEE process and audits.
• Ensure all monthly loan repayments are made on time and review loan schedules to ensure that schedules and rates are accurate.
• Ensure intergroup debtors, creditors and loans match monthly.
• Ensure fixed assets are capitalised in NetSuite, the fixed asset register agrees to the general ledger, and monthly depreciation is processed.
• Assist the CFO, Financial Manager and Investments Finance Team with ad hoc tasks as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified CA(SA)
• Two to five years of post-articles experience
• Ability to work across multiple entities simultaneously
• Intermediate MS Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
