An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead the site execution of a major 500 MW+ utility-scale Solar PV and BESS project in Botswana.

This is a senior project owner-side site leadership position responsible for overseeing the EPC Contractor's on-site execution from pre-construction and mobilisation through construction, energisation, commissioning and handover.

This position requires extensive experience managing the construction of large utility-scale Solar PV projects, with a strong understanding of turnkey EPC delivery, contractor management, construction sequencing, schedule recovery and multidisciplinary site interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day oversight of site construction and EPC Contractor performance.
  • Monitor construction progress against the baseline programme, milestones and critical path.
  • Oversee civil, structural, mechanical and electrical construction activities across multiple work fronts.
  • Oversee construction of Solar PV infrastructure including piling, trackers, modules, inverters, MV systems and electrical balance of plant.
  • Coordinate site execution and interfaces associated with BESS, HV/EHV substations and transmission infrastructure.
  • Review EPC look-ahead programmes, workforce mobilisation, productivity and resource requirements.
  • Identify delays and require appropriate recovery plans and corrective actions from the EPC Contractor.
  • Chair and participate in construction, progress and coordination meetings.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, HSE, QA/QC, contracts and commissioning teams.
  • Ensure construction follows approved drawings, specifications, ITPs and project requirements.
  • Identify site events that may result in variations, claims or programme impacts and maintain appropriate records.
  • Support resolution of site technical queries, constructability issues and contractor interfaces.
  • Coordinate the transition from construction into energisation, commissioning, COD and handover.
  • Provide accurate site progress, risk and contractor-performance reporting to senior project leadership.

Requirements

  • Relevant Engineering, Construction Management or technical qualification.
  • Approximately 15+ years' construction/project experience within power, renewable energy or major infrastructure.
  • Proven experience delivering large utility-scale Solar PV projects, preferably 500 MW+.
  • Strong experience managing EPC contractors and subcontractors on complex construction projects.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary civil, mechanical and electrical construction packages.
  • Strong understanding of construction programmes, critical-path activities, schedule recovery and contractor performance.
  • Full lifecycle experience from mobilisation/construction through commissioning and handover.
  • Strong HSE and QA/QC awareness.
  • Ability to manage multiple construction fronts and large site teams.
