AltGen is looking for a Contracts Manager to join a renewable energy EPC based in Cape Town for a 12-month contract. The role will support the planning, administration and execution of renewable energy construction projects.

Responsibilities:

Contract Planning

  • Support initial project team and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Assist with contract-related communication, presentations and supporting documentation.
  • Establish and maintain folder structures for draft contracts and associated schedules.
  • Track, compare and control revisions and changes to contracts and schedules.
  • Prepare clean execution versions of contracts for circulation and signature.

Contract Administration and Execution

  • Establish and maintain contract management systems for executed contracts.
  • Participate in project team meetings and contractual progress reviews.
  • Identify contractual risks, opportunities, deviations and deficiencies.
  • Support Project Managers with mitigation strategies and corrective actions.
  • Administer and monitor EPC contracts to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, notices and deliverables.
  • Administer and monitor major subcontractor and supplier agreements to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Draft contractual correspondence, approvals, certificates, consents, notices and requests for review and approval by Project Managers.
  • Coordinate contract execution processes, including signatures, notarisation and apostille requirements where necessary.
  • Manage contract records, scanning, filing and document archiving within the project library.

Contract Deliverables and Compliance

  • Establish and maintain registers for contractual communications and deliverables.
  • Track EPC contract obligations and associated project agreements, including: Implementation Agreements, PPAs, Grid Connection Agreements, Site agreements, Environmental approvals and permits
  • Maintain hold point and deliverables registers for EPC contracts, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure contractual deliverables are submitted to clients and stakeholders within required timeframes.
  • Ensure suppliers and subcontractors provide required deliverables and documentation on time.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly reports and project documentation.

Process Improvement and Support

  • Support the development and implementation of contractual processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate workshops relating to contract administration processes such as project communications, payment procedures and insurance claims.
  • Act as the first point of contact for contractual guidance and support to project teams.
  • Escalate complex contractual matters to senior management where appropriate.
  • Support the administration and management of insurance claims and related processes.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Contracts Management, Law or Quantity Surveying
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience in contract administration within EPC, or construction projects
  • Experience supporting the administration of EPC contracts and subcontractor agreements
  • Exposure to FIDIC contracts
  • Experience with construction projects within the renewable energy space is beneficial
