AltGen is looked for a skilled Group Financial Controller to join a renewable energy company based in Cape Town. The role is responsible for ensuring that consolidated financial reporting, statutory compliance, balance sheet integrity, capital distributions, financial risk management, and control frameworks are robust, consistent, and audit-ready. The GFC will provide independent financial governance oversight, ensuring that all financial information presented to the CFO, Board, shareholders, lenders, and external stakeholders is accurate, compliant, and supported by sound judgement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee consolidated group financial reporting and ensure compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain the integrity of the Group's balance sheet and financial reporting processes.
  • Lead the preparation of annual financial statements and manage the external audit process.
  • Oversee lender reporting, covenant compliance and financing obligations.
  • Manage dividend approvals, capital distributions and treasury governance activities.
  • Monitor liquidity, restricted cash balances and intercompany funding structures.
  • Review and approve accounting treatment for complex transactions and technical accounting matters.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, controls and governance frameworks across the Group.
  • Oversee customer credit risk, working capital management and bad debt provisioning.
  • Ensure tax compliance and oversee tax reporting and audits.
  • Oversee fraud risk, financial misconduct investigations and control improvements.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to finance teams across the business.
  • Partner with the CFO and key stakeholders to support sound financial governance and decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
  • Professional qualification such as CA(SA), CFA or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior finance or financial control role
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, financial reporting and statutory compliance
  • Experience working within multi-entity organisations
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within the renewable energy or EPC environment
  • Strong technical accounting and stakeholder management skills
