3E seeks to achieve a true break-through for its consultancy business in the Sub-Saharan region, supported via onboarding a passionate Business Development Manager, with strong initial focus in Southern Africa as well as Western, Central and Eastern Africa.

As such, you are the main point of contact with the key stakeholders in Sub-Saharan Africa renewable energy market, proactively identifying, pursuing and landing new opportunities to achieve the ambitious growth expected for 3E’s Consultancy business.

The position will be based in Cape Town and will require the candidate to travel nationally and internationally regularly.

The ideal candidate has a background within the wind and/or solar business (including hybrid and BESS systems), brings an existing network, a proven track-record of successful business development and sales, and is heavily committed to further growing the 3E business with an innovative mindset.

Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifying most relevant opportunities in the solar and wind market for 3E’s consultancy service.
  • Staying fully informed and know in detail the different market dynamics and mechanisms that impact the development, financing, construction, operation or transaction of solar or wind assets.
  • Ensuring you achieve the necessary level of credibility with the decision makers in the main stakeholders of the Sub-Saharan Renewable Energy players.
  • Understanding and anticipating each client’s needs and translating this into a business opportunity.
  • Preparing, sending and following up the technical-economic proposals for the clients. This will take an important part of your time.
  • Accompanying our clients from lead identification up to contract signature, ensuring a professional and smooth transition into 3E’s Operation teams.
  • Strictly and promptly following 3E’s reporting policies and procedures (SAP, Hub-Spot, meeting notes, etc.)
  • Lead and mentor a business development team, providing guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and product development, to ensure alignment with overall business strategies.
  • Participate in national and internationals conferences.
  • Create a healthy and collaborative team with Junior Sales offices.
  • Staying very close to any business opportunity, prospect and/or client that can represent an upselling opportunity for another 3E regional office or business unit.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for business development efforts.
  • Regularly monitor and report on progress against KPIs, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Utilize CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems and other technology tools to manage and track business development activities.
